"Following in the footsteps of the early propaganda cartoons of Disney, Fleischer, and Chuck Jones, this original, fully-animated look at the underbelly of Bush's economy juxtaposes a depression-era style with modern-day political rhetoric.
Originally a "Best Animation" finalist in MoveOn.org's "Bush in 30 Seconds" contest, the commercial spot has been expanded to a seven minute short cartoon that tells the rest of the story of Melvin McBean and his family's struggle to make ends meet in Bush's economy. "

The statement that propaganda must, by its very definition, come from the government is false. The dictionary definition of propaganda is:
1. any widespread ... promotion of particular ideas, doctrines, etc.
2. ideas, etc., so spread.
(Webster's New World Dictionary)
No mention of government there. At all.

Propaganda, by its very definition is government issued (repeating government ... slogans, e.g.)--> this does not fit the description. However, it's a clever way of using Flash to create an old-time movie.

Interesting to watch the emulation of old animation style. Like older animation clips I thought the pacing was a bit slow, thou I assume that was deliberate.
...
Worth checking out.

You're right: this is propaganda. Goebbels would be pleased.
Art to appease the radicals on either side is a waste of time, talent, and resources.
Donating ... any money from the DVD sales to help others or does anti-capitalism only go so far?
Not surprised the writer can't get a job writing when such maudlin dribble is offered as a resume.

Making a seven-minute animated short is difficult, especially when it will most likely bring no payday. The message of this film is important, so its

few technical flaws are insignificant, considering the time-consuming effort of its creators. It's a first-class bit of Flash animation, effectively evoking the American animation style of the early 1930s. Considering the early 1930s were depression years, the stylistic choice is clever and appropriate. Good use is made of the strengths of Flash (or Toonboom or Tab or whatever was used), and the mood is conveyed with clever economy of motion. This one gets burned to a DVD in my collection.

This is an excellent video. It is about the unprecedented loss of jobs in the recent economy. Lack of new job options (main character worked in a W's hamburger

shack). Also fact that he has no insurance once unemployed. Great animation and sound. The ending reminds people to vote.
